St Andrew’s Day is our official national day, named after St Andrew the patron saint of Scotland. It is celebrated on 30th November every year.

St Andrew’s Day Ticket Giveaway

Over St Andrew’s Weekend (25 & 26 November 2017) many attractions across Scotland are offering free tickets. All you have to do is visit the Historic Scotland Ticket Giveaway website and pre-book your chosen tickets in advance. So, you can grab free tickets for Edinburgh Castle, Craigmillar Castle, Blackness Castle, Linlithgow Palace, Dirleton Castle and Tantallon Castle, all in and around the Edinburgh area. What better way to celebrate than by exploring Scotland’s most historic monuments and castles!

Festive Celebrations

Enjoy Scotland’s national day with a visit to Edinburgh’s Christmas celebrations in the city centre. Events are on from mid-November to early-January, with lots of rides, attractions, markets and shows to keep the whole family entertained. Be sure to visit St Andrew Square, which features a stunning circular ice rink that allows you to skate 360 degrees around the square. There’s also a bar for something warm to drink afterwards!

Frozen Scotland

This St Andrew’s Day and throughout the festive season, George Street will be filled with beautiful ice and snow sculptures taking you on a journey through Scotland’s history. This immersive walk-through experience features mythical creatures, historical figures, and of course with a whisky barrel or two along the way. The temperature will be -10 C, so wrap up warm!
