Mother’s Day in Edinburgh
Sun 11 Mar 2018, various venues
Mother’s Day is a special day honouring Mums and motherhood. It is celebrated all over the world on different days of the year. In the UK we celebrate it 3 weeks before Easter. The date changes every year but it is always a Sunday in March or April. In 2018, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 11th March.
Edinburgh is the perfect city to visit with your Mum on Mother’s Day. Here is Edinburgh Tourist’s pick of the best things to do on a day trip …
Mums are busy people, so a relaxing spa day could be just the ticket. Kick back and chill out at one of Edinburgh’s tranquil spas. A spa voucher would make a lovely Mother’s Day gift and can be redeemed at a later date.
If your Mum is a shopaholic, there’s a lot to keep her busy here in Edinburgh. High street shops, department stores, designer brands, shopping centres and gift shops can all be found in the city centre. Check out this shopping guide for more information.
Take in a show
How about a night out at the theatre? This Mother’s Day week, choose from Blood Brothers at Edinburgh Playhouse, Ballet Hispanico: Carmen at the Festival Theatre, or Southern Light Opera: Hello Dolly at the Kings. If none of those are for her, search the what’s on calendar for more ideas.

Things to see and do
The list of things to do in Edinburgh is endless. It really depends what your Mum is into. Perhaps a day on board the Royal Yacht Britannia, a Harry Potter Walking Tour or an Outlander Day Trip over the city.
